I tried many types of laptop bag in my time but none seem to accomplish what I actually need, which is an optimal mix of protection for electronics, load capacity, easy access to contents, flexible usage and comfortable carry.
I once frequented many airports on my way to field trips that put me and my gear under very demanding outdoor conditions in the heat, dust, rugged terrain and water; bouncing around in four wheel drive and tracked vehicles, where I needed to operate my computer equipment to do the job at hand. But at the same time look and feel somewhat domesticated and low key for public travel.
But no bag on the market lived up to my demands and those of my environment because of shortcomings in either design or build quality.
So one of my many sayings is: if you can’t buy it make it yourself.

The principal benefit of this bag’s design is that you can carry your office anywhere anytime in a protected enclosure that stops short of using a rigid case; instead we use shock absorbing rubber sown into the wall of the bag. The Cordura nylon fabric is water resistant and the MOLLE means you can add and rearrange external pouches to customise your load.
When the shoulder strap and the waist strap are used together one can secure and balance your load when in a hurry as you traverse an airport, city, bus network, mine site or conduct remote fieldwork; knowing your gear, and your posture is protected.
My son and I regularly go bush and day hike so lunch, drinks, maps and compass must be packed. The utility of this bag is extensive.
